Glock 19 Ets Magazine - Although they make magazines for a wide range of weapons, Elite Tactical Systems is perhaps best known for their range of ETS Glock magazines. They make magazines for just about any Glock that takes a ∞ and that's it, except the WM25 (which obviously pulses in the 40 watt range). Read on to learn about the different types of ETS Glock magazines.
In late September 2021, Elite Tactical Systems released the Gen II 32 round magazine for the Glock 18. This of course means they have released a magazine that fits the G17, G19, G19X, G26, G34 and G45.

And not just because of the +1 (from 31st place to 32nd, see what we did there?). In addition to increasing the capacity, they changed the shape of the magazine to be more compatible with pistol caliber rifles.

The geometry has also been updated to increase the reliability of feeding a wide variety of ammunition types (including steel and aluminum cases). A newer base plate is also included, which we're told "improves plate retention and eliminates potential detachment from high impact."
The ETS Gen 2 Glock 18 9mm Magazine 32 Round features a durable, impact-resistant, advanced clear polymer body designed for ultimate strength and durability, as well as quick and visual bullet counting for increased reliability in the field. The floor plate is easily removable for quick disassembly, and the creep-resistant body maintains its shape during long-term storage, even when fully loaded. Additionally, the magazine features a high-tensile steel spring and anti-tilt polymer follower for smooth and reliable feeding.
Another day, another Glock, and another aftermarket company releasing Glock magazines. This is not a complaint, just an observation. I think more mags and more Glocks are better than less Glocks and less mags. The recent line of centerfire Glocks includes the G43X and G48 single stack firearms. The latest mags to hit the streets are the G48 and G43X ETS Mags.
ETS has made a name for itself by producing affordable magazines for various platforms. They often offer a wide range of magazine options for firearms that traditionally do not have extensions as an option. My G43X ETS mags are just extended magazines for a stack concealed carry item.

Today we're going to talk about the G43X ETS magazines and why the Extendo magazine makes sense for even the smallest firearms.
The G48 Slash G43X ETS Mags offer 19 rounds of 9mm in a very cool and interesting magazine design. Up top, we get the single-stack design we know and love from the G43X and G48 pistols, as the magazine reaches the part that protrudes from the grip. From there it becomes more like a traditional double stack.
This single stack to double stack model is not so rare. The same way Sig Sauer and Springfield Armory fit a lot of rounds in their compact magazines. It's a little weird that the same goes for Extendo, but we know it works.
G43X magazines measure 6 3/4 inches from tip to rim. The magazine extends 2 7/8 inches below the handle itself. This design allows doubling the capacity without increasing the length of the magazine itself. ETS has designed a high capacity magazine.
G19 Mag Extension
As usual, the magazines are made of an advanced polymer compound that resists cracking and breaking. It is also resistant to chemicals and UV. Unlike OEM Glock magazines, ETS magazines do not have an internal metal liner. This makes them generally non-magnetic, so they will not work with NeoMag devices.
This is the most important question that most of you ask yourself. If you plan to use the G48 and G43X ETS magazines for anything other than shooting, they need to be reliable and durable. I decided to see how much abuse could be taken.
First I dropped it unloaded - just let it hit the ground at shoulder height on different surfaces. It consisted of hard limestone soil, sand and concrete bricks. I let it fall from the gun and threw it to the sides and on the edges of the feed.
From there, I loaded a G43X ETS magazine with 19 rounds in a brass case and repeated the tests with a loaded magazine. I recall that some of the first generation Glock ETS magazines ejected a ton, if not all rounds.

Fortunately, this problem appears to have been resolved with the latest generation of ETS magazines, including the G48 and G43X ETS magazines. I threw it sideways, down, and tipped, and it was only one round out of it when a fully loaded magazine hit the deck.
After I dropped it, put it in the sand and generally beat it up, I figured it was time to see if the damn thing still ran smoothly. I put it in the G43X, held my breath and started pulling the trigger as fast as I could.
Every round went without a hitch. The magazine was full, so I decided to start the whole endurance test again. I dropped it and dropped it and loaded it and dropped it again. By now there was so much sand packed into the magazine that it vibrated, and I could feel the friction as it slid into the pistol.
The follower kept walking and I have to admit I felt more resistance when I loaded it. However he loaded 19 rounds with no problems and I dropped him again. 18 out of 19 rounds fed, fired and ejected without issue. The 19th did not rise high enough for the slide to catch.

I slapped a healthy magazine, the follower hit and the last round fed and fired.
My stress tests are a bit unusual and not necessarily realistic, but they prove that the magazine can take some abuse and still perform well. Like most things, he can't eat a healthy diet of sand and limestone and be expected to perform well.
I removed the journal and washed it well with water to remove the sand and dry it. Unlike OEM Glock magazines, they are not a problem at all to remove. After cleaning and drying, I loaded 19 rounds and fired the last string. He escaped unscathed, as the sands were released like an oil country in the Middle East.
This is the most important question. What is the practical purpose of wiring like these G43X ETS magazines? There are many reasons to use Extendo. First of all, this is America, so if I want it, I gotta have it. Second, shooting Extendo is just fun. However, none of these reasons are necessarily practical.

You don't need a practical reason to own a G48 or G43X ETS magazine, but I can give you one. As always, more ammo is better than less, especially when your firearm has duties beyond concealed carry. For some people, all they have is a gun. Double for concealed carry, home defense and more.
In the home defense role, the 19-round G43X ETS magazine offers plenty of rounds for defensive purposes. The more guns you have, the better for home defense. Repacking isn't likely when something happens at night, and the 19-round magazine gives you a little more firepower.
Outside of home defense, an extended magazine like the G43X ETS magazine is great for travel. A long trip requires packing the G43X with a standard 10-round magazine, but it's not crazy to have a long option for emergencies. When you stay in hotels and such a 19-round magazine opens up your defense possibilities.
The G48 and G43X ETS magazine is a wonderful option for filling your magazine with a few extra rounds. The extra few are 9, which is almost twice the OEM storage capacity. These magazines can take a little abuse and keep clicking, though keep in mind that things may need a little TLC here and there.

Whether you want to take advantage of your freedom, pack a few extra rounds for defensive purposes, or simply reduce the need to reload, the G43X ETS magazines have you covered. They literally allow you to lay down covering fire if necessary.
Have you ever noticed that people with guns have strong opinions? Or does the sun rise in the east and set in the west?
On the one hand, this is a great thing. We need strong people in the firearms community to stand up for us and do what is right. Thanks to all the people who do this. You know who you are and we appreciate each and every one of you.
On the other hand, sometimes a strong opinion can prevent us from seeing the big picture and we may develop tunnel vision that prevents us from seeing the whole picture. I'm not just talking about a self-defense shooting situation, where you have to look for additional threats. The same principle applies to gear selection.
